Wherever dust gathers, negative energy also gathers. In dark, lightless areas, stagnant energy forms. Here are some traditional Anatolian practices, used for centuries to cleanse the house of "negative energy":
Before energy cleansing, make sure your home is as clean as possible, without dusty or messy areas.
High vibrational sage dispels low vibrations and cleanses negative energy. The most common use, passed down from generation to generation, is to burn the sage plant as incense. Burn a few sprigs in a suitable vessel and, after the fire has died down, spread the smoke throughout the house. Don't forget the areas without light.
Another tradition in Turkish homes, over time, is the burning of “üzerlik” (uppercase) herbs. Like sage, üzerlik incense is believed to ward off the evil eye. Rock salt, which attracts negative energy, should be placed in a bowl, preferably near the front door. It is believed that pure salt collects energy and protects the family. The salt should be replaced regularly. It is important that the salt that has accumulated energy over the week is not thrown in the trash, but in the toilet.
Green plants and flowers grown in the house or on the balcony bring fresh energy. Avoid plants with sharp or drooping leaves. The rose is very important in our faith; it represents the soul and beauty. The scent of roses increases feelings of love and happiness.
